Jimmie Getter is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life stressors. Many of the individuals and families she works with are seeking support as they process difficult experiences, build emotional resilience, and develop healthier ways of coping and connecting with others.

Jimmie brings more than two decades of experience working in community mental health, where she has supported clients facing a wide range of concerns including complex trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, sexual assault, grief, bullying, self-esteem challenges, and relationship difficulties. She has a particular passion for helping children and adolescents feel safe, understood, and empowered as they navigate the challenges of growing up.
Her approach to therapy is client-centered, compassionate, and holistic. Jimmie is trained in EMDR, Sand Tray Therapy, and Play Therapy, and integrates a variety of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices. She is especially interested in helping clients connect mind, body, and spirit as part of a holistic approach to healing.
Jimmie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Judson University and three master’s degrees from National Louis University in Community Mental Health Counseling, Health Psychology, and Communications. She also serves on the board of the Rockford Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (RAASE).
Outside of her work as a therapist, Jimmie enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her beloved pets.
